The run-up aprons are essentially paved turn-outs on the north and south ends of the taxiways. They provide a space for pilots to perform safety checks on their aircraft without blocking traffic to and from the runway. Without these paved turn-outs, planes may back up coming and going from the runway, causing safety hazards for other departing and landing aircraft. This is the number one improvement desired by the tenants at the airport, as well as the Airport Advisory Committee. This project is in the current Airport Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) as well as the 2022-2026 Countywide CIP.
