Receive, consider and act upon the Montgomery Central Appraisal District Board of Director's Election ballot;
The Woodlands Township is treated as a conservation and reclamation district for the purpose of participating in the Montgomery Central Appraisal District (MCAD) election process. The election is held every two years. While there are five board positions to be filled in this election, the Township can only participate in the election for the Special District candidate and the election takes place in three phases. Earlier this year, the Township Board nominated Township resident Chuck Hoffheiser as a candidate for this election. In July the Township cast its votes for Mr. Hoffheiser. The Township was later notified that by a majority of the votes, the Special Districts selected Chuck Hoffheiser as their candidate. In this third and final phase, Chuck Hoffheiser’s name appears on the ballot along with the candidates nominated by the county, cities and school districts.
In this phase, all entities will vote in a more complex voting process. There are 13 names on the ballot; however, as noted in the letter from the Chief Appraiser, the Township and all other special districts will only be able to vote in this election for the nominee that won the summer Special District election (Chuck Hoffheiser). Any votes cast by a special district in this third and final phase will go to Chuck Hoffheiser.
Attached to this memo are the election-related documents provided by MCAD regarding this final phase of the election, which includes a memo from Chief Appraiser Tony Belinoski, copy of the official ballot, copy of the resolution casting the Township’s votes and brief biographies of the candidates.
Authorize Resolution 020-17 casting votes for the Special District candidate, Chuck Hoffheiser, and authorize the Chairman Gordy Bunch to sign the official ballot.
