SUBJECT MATTER:
Receive, consider and act upon a presentation on the proposed Research Forest Drive and Grogan's Mill Road underpass and a presentation on roadway projects in the City of Shenandoah Research Forest corridor;
FISCAL IMPACT:
N/A. The Township does not have authority over these types of transportation improvement projects. The project would be funded with federal, state and other local governmental entity transportation funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Township Board will receive a presentation regarding a proposed underpass at Research Forest Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road to be placed on the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s 2019-2022 Transportation Improvement Program.

The proposed underpass would add four lanes via an underpass while maintaining the existing four lanes at grade and reconfiguring the four signal intersections to two signal intersections in order to create reasonable flow of traffic through the intersections and along the two roads considering projected growth of traffic volume.

In addition, Bleyl Engineers will make a presentation on behalf of the City of Shenandoah regarding transportation improvements being evaluated by the City including improvements at Tamina Road/Research Forest Drive and Interstate 45 (I-45) and extension of David Memorial Drive located on the east side of I-45 connecting the existing road to SH-242 at Trade Center Boulevard.
RECOMMENDATION:
Accept the presentation.
