Receive, consider and act upon an update from The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau regarding the Waterway Cruisers;
There is no financial impact to The Woodlands Township regarding Waterway Cruisers.
The Woodland Convention and Visitors Bureau discovered shortly after Hurricane Harvey that the Waterway Cruiser operation was impacted by damage to the six Waterway Cruisers.
The operator, Waterway Events, LLC, who took over operation of the Waterway Cruisers on The Woodlands Waterway in April of 2016, has advised that the boats were damaged as a result of water and/or lightning.
The Woodlands CVB has been working since the storm to attempt to resume agreed upon operation of the Waterway Cruisers under the standards established by agreement with Waterway Events and its owners. At its meeting on November 29, 2017, the board received a report from one of the Members of Waterway Events, LLC, Lisa Spitz, that she had come to agreement for the acquisition of the interest of the other Member of the company (Michael Wilson) and would have the Waterway Cruisers operating in compliance with the Agreements with The Woodlands CVB in two to three weeks.
The Board passed a resolution NOT to take immediate action on the events of default under the Agreement during the three-week period to allow Waterway Events time to remedy the defaults and to meet with Ms. Spitz the week of December 4
to discuss requirements with regard to the ongoing operations for the remainder of the term of the Agreement.
Receive as presented.
