SUBJECT MATTER:
Receive, consider and act upon a traffic study update (as requested by Chairman Bunch);
FISCAL IMPACT:
N/A. The Township does not have authority over roadways within Township boundaries.
BACKGROUND:
On September 20, 2018, The Township Board received a presentation from Brown and Gay Engineering regarding a proposed underpass at Research Forest Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road. The Board also heard a presentation from Bleyl Engineering on behalf of the City of Shenandoah regarding transportation improvements proposed by the City along the Research Forest Drive corridor to Interstate 45.
 
The Board heard additional presentations regarding the Research Forest underpass on September 26th, October 18th and October 24th. On October 24, 2018, the Board tabled a proposed resolution of support for the project and asked stakeholders to do further evaluation of at-grade mobility improvements at Research Forest Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road and Lake Woodlands Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road.
 
On November 1, 2018, Montgomery County Precinct 3, Montgomery County Precinct 2, the City of Shenandoah and The Woodlands Township announced an agreement of an independent traffic study to evaluate traffic on Research Forest Drive between Gosling Road and Interstate 45 and Lake Woodlands Drive, including the Grogan’s Mill intersection. Montgomery County Precincts 2 and 3 are funding the study. On January 29, 2019, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court approved a contract with Strand Associates, Inc. to perform the study.
 
RECOMMENDATION:
