Receive, consider and act upon a resolution of support for the Conroe Independent School District bond issue (as requested by Director Snyder);
Conroe Indepedent School District (CISD) encompasses 348 square miles and currently serves over 64,000 students. The District's student enrollment grows an average of 1,500 students per year and is expected to peak at between 73,000 and 79,000 students.
As a result of growth and other district needs, the CISD Board of Trustees have called a school bond election for Tuesday, November 5, 2019. The bond election will contain two propositions. The first proposition (Prop A) would authorize CISD to issue bonds totaling an amount of up to $653.57 million and the second proposition (Prop B) would allow for the issuance of an additional $23.8 million for artificial turf at the District's high schools.
According to CISD bond materials, Prop A funding would include:
$315.8 million for new campuses and additions;
$239.2 million for campus renovations;
$44.5 for safety and security projects;
$25 millon for needs of district support services; and
$29 million for land and contingency.
Early voting for the November 5th elections begins on Monday, October 21, and runs through Friday, November 1. Additional information regarding the details of the bond can be found on the CISD website at www.conroeisd.net/bond.
