The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Sexually Transmitted Disease Control Branch (STDCB) has been awarded Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) Workforce Development funding as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to address 21st century outbreak response.
This funding will allow Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) to expand and enhance frontline public health staff; conduct DIS workforce training and skills building; build organizational capacity for outbreak response; and evaluate and improve recruitment, training, and outbreak response efforts that will address sexually transmitted disease (STD), HIV, COVID-19, and other infectious disease prevention and response needs of Yolo County.
Staff recommends approval of this agreement to receive funding to implement the DIS Workforce grant to ensure HHSA can respond efficiently to 21st century outbreaks in the community.
