|The City of Wabasha and the Eagle Center first signed a development agreement together in October 2017 to commit to working on expansion of the Eagle Center (Wabasha Riverfront Revitalization Project). The $27 million project, which is planned over two phases, includes a major expansion of the Eagle Center and its facilities, a new ampitheater, improvements to Big Joe Alley, new dockage. Phase 1 of the project will cost just under $6 million.
In May 2021, the City of Wabasha City Council approved a new, revised Development Agreement which further refined and formalized the relationship between the two organizations. The development agreement also committed the organizations to enter into leases to realize the project. The leases are between the City of Wabasha and the Eagle Center which formalize the relationship for the City of Wabasha, to accept State Bond Funds on behalf of the Eagle Center for the Wabasha Riverfront Revitalization Project.
