Information
Action Requested:
Request for a motion to repeal the county holiday Resolution No. 12-13-18.10D and replace it with Resolution 7-11-19.9 approved for 2020 and subsequent years.
Why Action Is Necessary (Summary):
The request last year for the 2019 Resolution was for the adoption of standing holidays.  The purpose was to adopt standing holidays so we know what the county schedule of closings are every year.  Last year instead of adopting the schedule and adding one floating holiday, the commission voted in favor of two Spring Break holidays.  These two Spring Break holidays cost the county a substantial amount of funding in overtime pay for essential personnel.

This request is to repeal the last resolution and adopt a floating holiday(s) instead, which will not cause the county to close down and affect the budget with overtime pay.  There are two resolutions for consideration.  Both resolutions have the same adopted holidays as last year.  One resolution adopts one floating holiday for a total of 11 county holidays.  The second resolution allows the commission to adopt two floating holidays in replacement of the two repealed Spring Break holidays for a total of 12 holidays.
Recommendations:
Recommend approval of one or two “floating” holidays.
