RECOMMENDATION
Rescind resolution of February 4, 2015 and adopt a revised resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division for funding of the Nueces County Public Safety Project.
BACKGROUND
The Criminal Justice Division (CJD) of the Governor’s Office is soliciting competitive applications for projects that reduce crime and improve the criminal justice system during the state fiscal year 2015 grant cycle. Federal funds are authorized under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG).

On September 4, 2013, the Commissioners Court accepted a grant award under this CJD program for the Public Safety Project in the amount of $44,718. The project included the Constable's Offices Precincts 1 through 4, the Juvenile Department, and the Public Works Environmental Enforcement Division. On October 8, 2014, the Commissioners Court accepted a grant award under this CJD program for the Public Safety Project in the amount of $37,235.50. The grant covered equipment and technology needs of these departments.
DISCUSSION
On February 4, 2015, the Commissioners Court adopted a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division for funding of the Nueces County Public Safety Project. However, the resolution contained an error in the project name. The revised resolution corrects this issue.

There is no fiscal impact related to this item. The grant application total remains at $36,399.59.
