RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution approving the submission of an application and acceptance of award to the Office of the Governor, Homeland Security Grants Division for the FY 2019 Operation Stonegarden Grant. This award was already approved in Commissioner's Court on 06/05/2020.
BACKGROUND
The OPSG Program supports enhanced cooperation and coordination among Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States Border Patrol (USBP), and local, Tribal, territorial, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies. The OPSG Program funds investments in joint efforts to secure the United States borders along routes of ingress from international borders to include travel corridors in states bordering Mexico and Canada, as well as states and territories with international water borders.
DISCUSSION
Nueces County has been awarded $1,408,337.00. This grant includes: Nueces County Sheriff's Office, Precinct 3, Precinct 5, Robstown PD (RPD),Bishop PD (BPD), Corpus Christi PD (CCPD) and Texas Department of Public Safety(TxDPS). Although Nueces County has oversight of the entire grant, only $315,000.00 will be administered directly by Nueces County (for NCSO, Pct. 3, Pct. 5, and BPD). The remaining $1,093,337.00 will go directly to CCPD, RPD, State of Texas, and TXDPS.
