Nueces County Towing Order
Submitted By: Tyner Little, Commissioners Court Admin
Department: Commissioners Court Admin

Discuss and consider adoption of an amended Order and exhibit establishing services and maximum fees related to Nueces County Law Enforcement Agency-Initiated, Incident Management, Non-consent Towing in Nueces County, Texas, effective February 12, 2020.
Nueces County began investigating the possibility of adopting an incident management, non-consent, towing order after several very high price towing incidents (one in Kleberg County) occurred costing individuals thousands of dollars.  A non-consent tow is generally a situation where the towing is initiated by a traffic accident, an arrest, or an otherwise disabled vehicle where the owner fails or refuses to designate a tow company to move the vehicle out of public right-of-way.  Chief Deputy, John Galvan, in the Sheriff's Office, worked in association with a few tow companies to establish recommended maximum allowable fees.  These have been compared to those maximum allowable fees charged within the City of Corpus Christi and are comparable.
