TPWD Boat Ramp Application
Submitted By: Natalie Eckstrom, Grants Department
Department: Grants Department

Adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of a boating access grant application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for funding for the Hazel Bazemore Boat Ramp Rehabilitation Phase II project.
On April 15, 2015, the Commissioners Court accepted a grant award for the renovation of the Hazel Bazemore Park public boat ramp on the Nueces River. The Phase I project consisted of the demolition of the existing boat ramp and construction of a new concrete boat ramp. An ADA accessible parking lot was also constructed.
The grant award amount from TPWD for the Phase I project was $289,730 with a required County match of $96,577 for a total project cost of $386,307. Unfortunately, this amount did not cover all of the Phase I proposed project elements.
Phase II will consist of concrete bulk heading, a concrete sidewalk for accessibility, and hand railing at the bulkhead. Solar lighting is also proposed for boater safety and a new picnic table area.
The grant budget is being compiled at the time this agenda item is being submitted, but estimated costs total about $385,000.
