DA Forensic Evidence Testing Application

Adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Texas Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division for the Nueces County District Attorney Testing of Forensic Evidence Project.
The Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division has released a funding announcement for the District Attorney Testing of Forensic Evidence Program, FY2022. The purpose of the announcement is to solicit applications from district attorney offices for costs associated with the forensic analysis of physical evidence. Funds may be used for costs associated with the forensic analysis of physical evidence for disciplines subject to, or expressly exempted from, accreditation by Article 38.35 Code of Criminal Procedure.
At the time of submission of this agenda item, the District Attorney’s Office is working on developing a project scope.
The application is due February 11, 2021. There is no maximum amount and there is no match required. If awarded, the project period will run from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022.
