VOCA Felony Domestic Violence Application

Adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division for the Nueces County Felony Domestic Violence Court Program under the General Victim Assistance Grant Program, FY2022.
The goal of the Criminal Justice Division (CJD) is to provide needed funding to improve public safety and support victims of crime by filling system gaps and promoting innovative solutions to common problems. CJD is accepting applications for projects that promote a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to improving the criminal justice systems response to violent crimes against women, including domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
On December 2, 2020, agenda item #2.I., the Commissioners Court accepted a second grant award for the Felony Domestic Violence Court Program.  The budget for the program covers one (1) full-time Victim/Witness Coordinator position, counseling services, travel/training, and related program supplies.  

For continuing projects such as this one, applicants may apply for the same amount received in the past year.  Therefore, the application will be for a total of $127,420.40, of which $101,936.32 is in grant funds and $25,484.08 is the County’s match.   The match will met using in-kind services such as grant administration and related costs.  The grant application is due February 11, 2021.
