RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the submission of a grant application to the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) for the Community Development Partnership Program.
BACKGROUND
The Lower Colorado River Authority’s Community Development Partnership Program (CDPP) grants help local governments, emergency responders and nonprofit organizations fund capital improvement projects that might otherwise not be possible. The grants are awarded twice a year to volunteer fire departments, emergency responders, cities and counties, schools, libraries, civic groups, museums, and other nonprofit organizations. Applicants requesting more than $5,000 in grant funding must supply matching funds of at least 20 percent of the total project cost. Grants larger than $25,000 are intended for particularly impressive and noteworthy projects with a far-reaching impact on a broad community.
DISCUSSION
The application will request $25,000 from CDPP funds with a $5,000 match from the County.  The budget includes the purchase of equipment necessary for the new fire marshal to perform his duties safely and effectively.  If awarded, this grant will assist in offsetting the costs already planned for such equipment.
