TDEM Subgrant Award for Courthouse Generator

Ratify the execution of a subgrant award from the Texas Division of Emergency Management for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, DR-4332 Hurricane Harvey for the Courthouse generator.
The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and administered by the State of Texas through the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM). This program is a mitigation grant with a single mission to provide financial assistance to eligible applicants to prevent or reduce future losses to lives and property through the identification and funding of cost-effective mitigation measures; and minimize the costs of future disaster response and recovery.
On December 18, 2018, agenda item #4.C.2., the Commissioners Court authorized the submission of a grant application to TDEM for the Courthouse and Jail Emergency Generator Upgrade project. The grant will pay for the purchase and installation of a gas generator, on a concrete pad to provide backup power for the Courthouse and Jail. The generator will be a 2,250 KW generator with an automatic transfer switch and 48-60 hour reserve fuel tank.
On November 2, 2020, the County was informed of the subgrant award for the period of September 25, 2020 to September 25, 2022. The federal cost share amount is $1,203,839.25 with a required match of $401,279.75. In addition, management costs were approved in the amount of $80,250 with no match required.
