Approve replacement of Network Communications Policy (NCP)
Submitted By: Lance Murphy, Information Technology
Department: Information Technology

Information
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the replacement of the Network Communications Policy (NCP) with new Technology Policies.
BACKGROUND
The current Nueces County Network Communication Policy (NCP) was created in 1999. This policy needs to be replaced to accommodate new technology and to protect the county from the increasing list of liabilities.

These technology policies were originally submitted for review in the June 5th, 2019 Commissioners Court meeting but action was purposely delayed until an efficient distribution method could be identified. The distribution method is now identified and the policies need final approval before distributing to all employees for their consent. One additional policy has since been added and needs final review by Commissioners Court (Social Media Acceptable Use Policy).
DISCUSSION
Recommend approval to replace the Network Communications Policy (NCP) with new Technology Policies identified in the consent form (Acceptable Use Policy; Email Acceptable Use Policy; End-User Devices Acceptable Use Policy; Internet Acceptable Use Policy; Password and Authentication Policy; Social Media Acceptable Use Policy).
