Presentation - Water Resources Strategic Plan

Information
Subject
PRESENTATION AND POSSIBLE DISCUSSION REGARDING AN UPDATE ON THE ARIZONA DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN AND ORO VALLEY'S WATER RESOURCE STRATEGIC PLAN
Summary
The designated representatives of the seven States of the Colorado River Basin have signed the Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan.  The plan has been sent to Congress for approval.  Federal legislation and subsequent implementation of the agreements will enable prompt action to enhance conservation of Colorado River water.  This plan will assist in reducing the probability that Lakes Powell and Mead will decline to critically low elevations.

Furthermore, the Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan provides priority Central Arizona Project sub-contract holders, like Oro Valley, with greater water resource certainty enhancing the Water Utility's ability to successfully plan strategically for the communities existing and future water resource needs.
