May 13, 2015 Regular Meeting

   1. Call to Order at 6:02 pm by President Rau.
   2. Approval of the minutes of the regular meeting April 15, 2015.

   4. New Business - Items for Discussion Only
   a. Demonstration of Library Website - - Rohr gave the board a demonstration of the new Library website.
   5. Unfinished Business - Items for Discussion Only
   a. Library Community Foundation - No updates
   b. Jefferson County - Jefferson County board approved withdrawing from the Mid-Wisconsin Library System in favor of joining Waukesha County. The next step is for Waukesha County to approve an ordinance to extend the coverage of the library system. This will happen at the June 23 meeting. Jefferson county must notify Mid-Wisconsin by July 1 if they wish to withdraw from the system effective Jan. 1, 2016.
   6. President's Reports - Rau shared a poem with the group.
   7. Director's Report
   a. Summer Reading Program - The summer reading program starts June 8th for Adults, Children and Teens. Adult and Teen grand prize is a Kindle Paperwhite and Amazon gift card. Teens and children will get passes for area activities as incentives.
   b. Early Literacy Corner - Children are utilizing the Early Literacy Corner that was opened at the end of April. It is nice to see the additional people coming in and using the toys that were specifically chosen to promote early literacy. Money to fund the new items in that corner came from grants awarded through WCFLS for Early Literacy.
   c. Spring Book Sale - The Spring book sale held at the beginning of May was a success. Over $1000 was collected from donated and discarded books and magazines.
   d. Schall had a job shadow this past month from Opportunities Inc. This organization helps disabled and special needs individuals test out different lines of work by job shadowing.
   e. May 22 In-Service Day Library will be closed for a staff in-service day.
   f. Employee of the Month - Jane named two people Employee of the Month - JJ Berger and Ellen Rohr. Both individuals worked hard to get the website up and running by the beginning of May. JJ worked on the design and page creation and Ellen worked on the content. The website looks great. Thank you to both for your great work.
   8. Trustee's Report - Walz reported that the Farmers Market started May 6. There is a lot going on downtown Memorial Day Weekend. May 23rd, Art show on Main and Mill streets sponsored by the Art Guild. May 25 is the Memorial Day Parade. May 30th and 31st is Old Falls Village Days.

   9. Friends' Report - The Friends have a new updated newsletter. It was reported they will not be participating in Falls Fest this year.
