MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Michael Santimauro called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.


MINUTES
Motion by Commissioner Luisier, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to approve the minutes of October 9, 2017 as written and distributed. All ayes. Motion carried unanimously.

CLOSED SESSION
Motion by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Wilczynski-Vogel to convene into closed session at 5:05 p.m. under Wisconsin Statutes §19.85 (1) (c) for the purpose of interviewing candidates for full-time Firefighter. All ayes. Motion carried unanimously.

The Commission reconvened into open session under Wisconsin Statutes §19.85(2) at 6:20 p.m., for possible additional discussion and/or action concerning any matter discussed in closed session and/or any unfinished item remaining on the agenda.

CERTIFICATION OF CANDIDATES FOR FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER
Motion by Commissioner Wilczynski-Vogel, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to certify the following candidates to the Firefighter eligibility list.

Cody Porter
Joseph Waite

All ayes. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Commissioner Wilczynski-Vogel, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to not certify the following candidates to the Firefighter eligibility list.

Nicholas Hepner
Joshua Hutwagner

All ayes. Motion carried unanimously.


DIRECTOR OF PROTECTIVE SERVICES REPORT
*Menomonee Falls Fire Department meeting with Community Memorial Hospital to discuss community paramedicine program.
*Menomonee Falls Fire Department will offer a Fire Citizen Academy (separate from Police Citizen Academy).
*Rescue Task Force (RTF) – training with teams of firefighters/EMTs and police officers.
*New handheld radios for Police and Fire due to Waukesha County Communications changing to digital.
*Will renovate/remodel Fire Station #2 and Fire Station #4 with funds collected from impact fees.
* All five ambulances will be getting new monitors.
*Fire Department Open Houses October 7, 14, 21 and 28.
*Six full-time firefighter vacancies and one battalion chief vacancy.
*Four police officer vacancies and three police officer retirements expected in the next few months.

ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Luisier, to adjourn. All ayes. Motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
