January 14, 2015 Regular Meeting

 
Present:
Francine Rau, Janet Dake, Peggy Haas, Doris Barnes, Kathleen Lysaght, Kathy Finley, Jeremy Walz

1. Call to Order at 6:00 pm by President Rau.
             
2. Special Order of the Day - Guest Speaker, Kathryn Leverenz, from Waukesha County Community Foundation. Kathryn spoke to us about the benefits of joining the Waukesha County Community Foundation. Their program is very flexible and can be setup per the board's instructions. We would need a subset of the board to oversee the foundation.We can start a foundation with as little as $1000.
             
3. Approval of the minutes of the regular meeting - Motion was made by Lysaght to approve the minutes as printed, seconded by Dake, approved.
             
4. Approval of bills for payment per list. - Monthly activity report is attached.  Motion was made by Dake to approve the bills for payment, seconded by Barnes, approved.

a. Waukesha County Community Foundation - For Discussion Only - It was recommended for each board member to read the information and come back next meeting with questions for discussion.

9. President's Report - President Rau hoped that everyone had a wonderful holiday season and endured the cold. She thanked Karen Esvang for helping her setup her Kindle for use on Overdrive.

Director's Report
             
a. New Services - Gale Courses, Flipster - Schall explained two new programs offered by the library. So far they are very popular. Patrons can stop at the reference desk for more information.
             
b. Employee of the Month - Schall named Debbie Knaack Employee of the Month. Debbie came up with the idea to have a Christmas Book sale. Newer books were sold at a slightly higher price. It was suggested to give books for Holiday gift giving. The library raised $470 by selling books in this fashion. We may do something similar for Mother's Day and or Father's Day. Thank you Debbie for you ingenuity and coming up with ideas to generate revenue for the library.

Trustee's Report - Trustee Walz gave an overview of events coming up and updates from the latest Village Board Meetings.

Friends' Report - Friends to not meet in December of January. They will meet again in February.
             
13. Next Meeting: Wednesday, February 11, 2015, 6:00 PM, Library Board Room
             
14. Topics for next meeting agenda - Next month we will discuss the Annual Report, statement to the system and further discuss starting a foundation for the library.
             
15. Adjournment - Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm Motion made by Lysaght, seconded by Barnes, approved.
