Lt. Mark Wilkinson submitted a proposal to the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for consideration during the FFY 2019 Operation Stonegarden grant program cycle.
The Operation Stonegarden Program was implemented to enhance security along the nation’s border regions. This is achieved through a cooperative and coordinated enforcement effort between state and local law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Border Patrol, targeting specific routes of egress that could potentially be used by criminal organizations to smuggle terrorists, weapons of mass destruction, and other contraband into the United States from Mexico.
The Police Department has participated in the Operation Stonegarden Program since its inception and to date all expenditures have been reimbursed in full.
"...that the Mayor and Council approve Resolution No. 20-1402."
The cost associated with the personnel overtime and mileage in the amount of $557,000. All funds are reimbursable.
