DISCUSSION/DECISION on approval of THIRD READING of Ordinance No. 19-1114, an ordinance of the Mayor and Council of the City of Douglas, Cochise County, Arizona, AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF A SEMI-IMPROVED PARCEL OF LAND located on the 900 BLOCK OF 2ND STREET, Lots 9 & 10 within parcel #409-14-093C to Joseph L. Garcia and Maria de la Luz Garcia, husband and wife, pursuant to terms entered into by the parties; establishing severability of components of ordinance; and declaring an emergency.
Council is considering selling a semi-improved parcel of land located at 900 block of 2nd Street, to include Lots 9 & 10 within Parcel (409-14-93C) in Douglas, Arizona. The parties requesting purchase are Joseph and Maria De a Cruz Garcia who own the adjoining parcels. The total purchase price is $12,500 per the terms of the accepted offer in Exhibit “A”, which is attached and incorporated herein by reference.
Article I, Section 3 (A) of the City Charter empowers the City to acquire real property for any City purpose and to sell or otherwise dispose of real property in the manner, for such consideration and upon such conditions as may be determined by the City Council.
Article VII, Section 5 (12) of the City Charter provides that the acquisition, sale, lease or exchange of real property shall be by ordinance.
The Mayor and Council find that it is in the best interest of the City of Douglas to sell semi-improved parcel of land located as described in the ordinance.
“…that the Mayor and Council approve the third reading of Ordinance No. 19-1114 by number and title only and declaring an emergency.”
