Memorandum of Understaning 2019 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program
Approve the Memorandum of Understanding between St. Lucie County, the City of Ft. Pierce Police Department and the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office for a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG-Edward Byrne Memorial Grant) for 2019 funds to divide the 2019 funds in the total amount of $41,135 to be shared equally between the City of Fort Pierce and St. Lucie County Sheriff's office ($20,567.50 for each agency) for agency technology improvements.
The attached Memorandum of Understanding by and between St. Lucie County, the City of Ft. Pierce Police Department and the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, documents/memorializes agreement that St. Lucie County will serve as the Prime Recipient, Lead Applicant, Fiscal Agent and Administering Agency for the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG-Edward Byrne Memorial Grant) for 2019 funds. Designated as a Disparate Community because funding awarded to the City of Ft. Pierce exceeds 150% of funds awarded to St. Lucie County, The Ft. Pierce Police Department and St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department agree to divide the
41,135 awarded funds equally ($20,567.50 for each agency). Both agencies propose to utilize awarded funds for agency technology improvement.
Staff recommends signature of agreement on the Memorandum of Understanding attached.
The Commission may choose not to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.
The Fort Pierce Police Department's Grant Coordinator is responsible for the Justice Assistance Grant Program.
The 2019 Justice Assistance Grant is coordinated with the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office Grant Coordinator.
