AGENDA ITEM:

Consider authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute a Construction Services Agreement with Lookup Properties, Inc. in the amount of $90,088.67, and to establish a total project budget in the amount of $99,100 to provide remodeling services for the Town Center Administration Kitchen Renovation project.

BACKGROUND:

The City of DeSoto and City of Fort Worth entered into a Cooperative Purchasing Interlocal Agreement on July 25, 2007, in which the City of Fort Worth would act as the purchasing agent for the purchase of various goods and services through annual contract bids. This Interlocal Agreement established a cooperative purchasing program between both cities, which is beneficial because it avoids duplicate procurement efforts and enables both cities to reap the cost savings achieved through volume purchasing.
 

In 2016, the City of Fort Worth solicited bids for remodeling services pursuant to Bid No. 13P16-0161. The City of Fort Worth entered into Non-Exclusive Purchasing Agreements with seven vendors, including Lookup Properties, Inc. On November 20, 2018, City Council awarded a professional services contract to PBK Architects for the design phase of the Town Center Renovation Project. This contract awards the construction project for the administration kitchen renovation.

FINDINGS:

Lookup Properties submitted a proposal for the renovation of the administrative kitchen in the amount of $90,088.67.  The scope of the proposed improvements includes the demolition and replacement of walls, cabinets, lights, plumbing, and electrical wiring. This also includes replacement of appliances such as the refrigerator, microwave, ice machine and oven. 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Funds are budgeted for the Town Center Administration Kitchen Renovation project in Fund 486.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that Council authorize the Interim City Manager to execute a Construction Services Agreement with Lookup Properties, Inc. in the amount of $90,088.67 and to establish a total project budget in the amount of $99,100, to provide remodeling services for the Town Center Administration Kitchen renovation project.
