COUNCIL ACTION
Motion by Councilmember Marks with a second by Mayor Pro Tem Byrd to approve as presented. Motion passes 7-0.
AGENDA ITEM:
Consider authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement with Bound Tree Medical, LLC in the amount of $95,000 for medical supplies and medications for FY 2022
BACKGROUND:
The City of DeSoto Fire Department purchases the majority of its emergency medical supplies from Bound Tree Medical, LLC (Bound Tree) through a cooperative purchasing contract facilitated by an interlocal agreement with the City of Midlothian. This cooperative purchasing contract is the second largest like agreement in the nation with the goal of expediting best pricing of emergency medical supplies.
FINDINGS:
The Fire Department operates the City of DeSoto's Emergency Medical Service, which requires the use of certain medical and pharmaceutical supplies to preserve the health and safety of the City's residents and visitors. In Fiscal Year 2021, the Fire Department spent $80,000 on medical supplies from Bound Tree.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Based on previous years usage and current pricing, the DeSoto Fire Department anticipates spending $95,000 to purchase medical supplies and medications from Bound Tree for FY 2022. Funding is included in the approved FY 2022 Budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement with Bound Tree Medical, LLC in the amount of $95,000 for medical supplies and medications for FY 2022.
