COUNCIL ACTION
AGENDA ITEM:
Presentation and discussion regarding potential updates to the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, including changes to outdated definitions; updates regarding tobacco and smoking paraphernalia definitions, uses, and sales within the City; changes to public hearing and notice requirements; recommendations for residential open space requirements (including a definition of usable open space); and updates to the Subdivision Ordinance regarding concept plan and preliminary plat requirements.
BACKGROUND:
Like many City ordinances, the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances periodically need to be updated for several reasons including, but limited to the issuance of new state and federal laws; new uses or business practices; the City's authority to protect public health, safety, and welfare; the emergence of new technology; and the implementation of more efficient procedures/requirements. 
FINDINGS:
The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Council on the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances and review staff's recommended amendments.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact from this agenda item.
RECOMMENDATION:
This agenda item is being presented for discussion purposes only. Based on feedback from the City Council, presented items may appear on a future City Council Agenda for consideration.
