COUNCIL ACTION
Motion by Councilmember Marks with a second by Councilmember Chism to approve as presented. Motion passes 6-0.
AGENDA ITEM:
Consider authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute a purchase contract for six vehicles in the amount of $337,852.64 from Sam Pack's Five-Star Ford for vehicles identified in the FY 2022 Vehicle Replacement Program
BACKGROUND:
Staff manages a Vehicle Replacement Program (VRP) that is based on a ten-year horizon for the replacement of all vehicles in the City's fleet. During the budget preparation process, the VRP is updated to ensure that vehicles are being replaced when necessary. These replacements are based on usage and maintenance issues. When new vehicles enter the fleet, their replacements are auctioned to maintain fleet size. A five-year schedule of planned vehicle replacements is included in the operating budget each year for planning purposes. The Street Superintendent works closely with all managers on updating the VRP and the timely acquisitions of the vehicles identified in the budget.
FINDINGS:

In FY 2022, six vehicles are identified for replacement through the VRP. Each of the vehicles will be purchased using the BuyBoard contract with Sam Pack's Five-Star Ford. All six vehicles are Ford Explorers and will be assigned to the Police Department.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total financial impact of purchasing these six Police Department vehicles for FY 2022 is $337,852.64, which was allocated in the General Fund during the FY 2022 budget process.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a purchase contract for six vehicles in the amount of $337,852.64 from Sam Pack's Five-Star Ford for vehicles identified in the FY 2022 Vehicle Replacement Program.
