As authorized by Section 551.071(2) of the Texas Government Code, this meeting may be convened into closed Executive Session for the purpose of seeking confidential legal advice from the City Attorney on any agenda item listed herein.

DeSoto City Council Meetings are open to the public; however, since space is limited and to adhere to the Governor's Orders, citizens are encouraged to view the meetings online rather than in person due to concerns related to the spread of COVID-19.

Citizens attending in-person are asked to maintain a distance of at least 6-feet from other members of the public, City Council and staff. The meeting will be live-streamed on DeSoto's website at for those wanting to view the meeting online.
1.   Call to Order
a.   Recognition of and presentation to outgoing Mayor Pro Tem Kenzie Moore III.
b.   Consider a Resolution of the City Council of the City of DeSoto, Texas, canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the Special Election held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, in the City of DeSoto, for the purpose of electing a Mayor for Place 1 and a Councilmember for Place 7. c.   Presentation of Certificate of Election to newly elected Mayor Place 1 per the Texas Election Code.
d.   Conduct Oath of Office for newly elected Mayor Place 1 per the Texas Constitution.
e.   Presentation of Certification of Election to newly elected Councilmember for Place 7 per the Texas Election Code.
f.   Conduct Oath of Office for newly elected Councilmember Place 7 per the Texas Constitution.

DeSoto City Council Meetings are broadcast live in their entirety on DeSoto's City Website Government Access Channel 16 available to Spectrum subscribers and Channel 99 available to AT&T U-verses subscribers on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  A taped broadcast is aired each day on Channel 16 and Channel 99 at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. following the live broadcast.  Questions regarding the broadcast schedules or internet viewing should be directed to Kathy Jones, Community Relations Manager, at 972-230-9648. These taped broadcasts are also available to view on the City's website ( ) at your convenience.
