The Family Caregiver Subcommittee’s 2018 Priority Goal is to address Caregiver Needs and provide Community Outreach by working to identify Family Caregivers in the Community and by having a more centralized method to get them the information they need.

Those present introduced themselves to the group.

Dr. Sudha Seshadri, Founding Director of UT Health San Antonio Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's and Neurodegenerative Diseases welcomed the group and shared some of the vision for the Institute. Dr. Seshadri shared that they want to become the model for health care and the community working together for patients and their Caregivers.

Dianne M. Teran, Caregiver Services Coordinator provided an update on the Aging programs to include some movement to begin Caregiver Education and Training by offering the Stress-Busting Program for Dementia Caregivers in Kerrville and New Braunfels. More details on the programs to come.

Details are being finalized on the Naomi Feil Workshop scheduled for May 24, 2018. Media lists are being reviewed and updated to begin Outreach for the event. MMLearn is working on the flyer as well as an Event Brite registration with the assistance of Sara Masoud from UT Health. There will be limited vendor tables available. The event is free to the community. Sage Care Management is providing Social Workers and Nurses continuing education for a processing fee of $40.00.

The group has agreed to maintain a Membership Form for all members to complete in order to keep a more accurate list.

The Acewings website update will be provided at the next meeting.

The Group will have an outreach table at the Low Vision Expo on March 2, 2018 from 9am to 1:00pm at the TriPoint Event Center, 3233 N. St. Mary's Street. Members shared upcoming events and updates on their respective programs/services.
