Meeting was moved to January 23, 2018 from January 16, 2018 due to inclement weather.
Dianne M. Teran, Caregiver Services Coordinator provided an update on the Aging programs and the recent restructuring. Group was informed that services are at priority population at this time. She also provided a brief presentation on the National Family Caregiver Support Program as well as the group's connection to the Bexar Senior Advisory Committee as a Subcommittee and it's role. The group was also asked to provide any possible resources for institutional respite facilities as a vendor is needed for this service.
Discussion was begun on revisiting the AceWings Website and it's usability/functionality will be placed on February's agenda.
Confirmation has been made for the Community Workshop: The Validation Breakthrough: Simple techniques for Communicating with people with Alzheimer's-Type Dementia presented by Naomi Feil. It will be held on May 24, 2018 at San Antonio College. The Coalition along with a generous donation from MMLearn are the sponsors for the workshop. A "save the date" flyer has been created and will go out to members and the community. There are still more details to work through regarding vendor tables, promoting for attendance and outreach so workgroups have been created for operations and marketing.
Members Helen Flores and Tina Smith shared that they will be attending the National Alliance for Caregiving's 12th Annual National Conference on Caregiver Advocates American Society on Aging Conference - Aging in America on March 26, 2018 in San Francisco. They are looking forward to share what they have learned with the other members when they return.
