DISCUSSION:
The Casa Grande Police Department (CGPD) is seeking $24,565 in non-matching grant monies from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The monies will be broken down as follows: $21,131 of the funds will be used for overtime expenses (personnel costs/fringe benefits) to conduct various community policing activities, which aid in the reduction of crime and help build community relationships.  $3,434 of the funds will be used to purchase community policing products which are used in a variety of ways, including but not limited to, Bike Patrol, Neighborhood Block Watch, Crime Free Multi-housing, Public Education, Citywide Special Events, Coffee with a Cop, Public Safety Day, and to market the Team Policing Initiative.

CGPD has been very successful in implementing these events/programs over the years and currently uses them to positively interact with citizens throughout our City in an effort to identify concerns affecting citizen’s quality of life and cooperatively implement solutions to decrease crime and solve issues.
