Due to the impacts of the federal, state, and local declarations of public health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Casa Grande has implemented measures to protect our community, including holding Council meetings remotely by technological means, as permitted by State law. Until further notice, City Council members may participate telephonically or via other technological means. Members of the public are encouraged not to attend the meeting but instead are encouraged to view the live meeting proceedings on Cox Channel 11 or the City’s Channel 11 Live Stream available on the City’s website. To promote adequate social distancing in accordance with Governor Ducey’s Executive Order and the recommendations of the CDC, limited seating will be available at the meeting. For those residents unable to access the internet, outdoor speakers will be available at the Council Chambers to allow them to hear the proceedings while still adhering to social distancing requirements.
Anyone wishing to submit a comment relating to a specific item on the City Council Agenda, however, can email the City Clerk at Gloria_leija@casagrandeaz.gov by 2:00 p.m. of the meeting date. Comments received on specific agenda items by that time will be included in the record.
These measures are being taken to limit the need for members of the public to participate in a large public gathering while still ensuring that any discussions, deliberations, or actions of the Mayor and City Council are transparent and conducted openly in accordance with Arizona law. The City urges its residents during this difficult time to continue to work together to limit the spread of COVID-19 by adhering to the recommendations of federal, state, and local officials and to watch the City Council meeting remotely and participate remotely if at all possible.
