|In November 2014, the Board of Directors approved the Assignment, Assumption and Amendment of Ground Lease with the Lake Woodlands Property Owners Association (LWPOA) and The Woodlands Land Development Company, L.P. to The Township. A resulting action is for the Township to adopt rules for the use of Lake Woodlands.
While many of the original LWPOA Rules and Regulations for use of Lake Woodlands (Attachment A) are already included in Order 019-19 (i.e. no swimming, hours of operation-dawn to dusk, fishing, hunting, littering, vandalism) (Attachment B) the following Specific Use Rules are recommended for adoption, which replicate LWPOA's lake use rules.
Amend Section Section 2. G. Specific Use Facilities, to include:
v. Lake Woodlands- to preserve the lake for the enjoyment by users and adjacent residents and businesses the following rules apply:
a. Internal combustion power motor boats are not permitted for general use, unless for maintenance, safety, security, rescue or any other purpose as determined by The Woodlands Township or unless such person has received approval under a Township issued permit.
b. Permitted watercrafts include: rigid frame craft including sail boats (mast height not to exceed 25 feet from water line), rowing boats, sculls, paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, windsurfing boards, stand up paddle boards, and U.S. Coast Guard approved inflatables.
c. Acceptable methods of operating a watercraft shall be by manual means, wind power or by electric motor, not to exceed 3 HP or equivalent rating.
An amendment to Township Orders requires the Board to conduct a public hearing.
