The Friendship Center: The Friendship Center provides transportation to the elderly and disabled in part, through funding from The Woodlands Township in the amount of $25,000 to assist in their operations.
As operational expenses have continued to mount due to an aging fleet, The Friendship Center will pursue a discretionary grant, known as “Ladders of Opportunity” that would require a 20 percent local match.
Based on estimates provided by The Friendship Center, the purchase of 3 additional vehicles would be approximately $198,000, which would require approximately $40,000 in local match.
A 50-50 split of the local match between the City of Conroe and The Woodlands Township has been proposed, making the Township’s share approximately $20,000.
The operational funding of $25,000 and funding for 50 percent of the local match for grant funding sought for new vehicles (not to exceed $20,000) was approved during the 2014 Board of Directors FY2015 Budget Workshop Meetings.
