SUBJECT MATTER:
Receive, consider and act upon appointments to the Booking and Blocking Committee; 
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
As set forth in the Booking and Blocking Agreement between The Woodlands Waterway Hotel owner and The Woodlands Township, three representatives are required for the Booking & Blocking Committee. One person represents The Woodlands Township, and the other two positions are represented by the hotel owner and the “other hotels” in The Woodlands, collectively. The main purpose of the committee is to handle dispute resolution in booking the Convention Center, per the Booking & Blocking Rules.

Currently, Nick Wolda, Director of Community Relations for The Woodlands Township and President of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau, is serving a three-year term (expires December 31, 2016) and Suzanne Deliganis of Westin, who represents the “other hotels,” is serving a two-year term (expires December 31, 2017), and the “hotel owner,” which is the Inland Group, and is represented by Sheron Jones of Marriott (with expiration of December 31, 2016). The Woodlands Township position expires at the end of 2016 and it is recommended Nick Wolda represent The Woodlands Township until December 31, 2019. The hotel owner position expires on December 31, 2016 and it is recommended to re-appoint Sheron Jones for another one year term. The “other hotels” position two-year term expires on December 31, 2017 and no action is needed.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend Nick Wolda of The Woodlands Township and The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau to serve a three-year term from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019 and Sheron Jones of Marriott to serve a one-year term on the Booking and Blocking Committee from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017.
