SUBJECT MATTER:
Receive, consider and act upon an Interlocal Agreement with Montgomery County for the provision of Law Enforcement Services provided through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office C-2016-0458;
FISCAL IMPACT:
The adopted  2017 Budget for the provision of enhanced law enforcement services totals $10,169,098 and includes: $8,182,023 for personnel, $999,600 for directed overtime programs, $456,000 for replacement vehicles, $165,275 for  computers and miscellaneous equipment, $44,200 for monthly air card costs and K9 support for two dogs and $322,000 for vehicle fuel.
BACKGROUND:
The Woodlands Township is currently providing enhanced  law enforcement services in the Montgomery County area of the Township through an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) with Montgomery County. As was presented and approved in the 2017 Budget process,  no additional deputies will be added in 2017. A total  of 92.5 law enforcement personnel  will be provided by the ILA. In addition, nine (9) positions are provided by Montgomery County through the County tax levy, for a total of 101.5 personnel that will be assigned to the Township, District 6. The current ILA will expire December 31, 2016, and a new ILA for 2017 has been prepared (Attachment A). 

 
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve  the Interlocal Agreement with Montgomery County for the provision of Law Enforcement Services through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and authorize the President/General Manager to execute the agreement upon review and approval of legal counsel.
