SUBJECT MATTER:
Receive, consider and act upon a presentation on TheWoodlands311 Mobile App;
FISCAL IMPACT:
$16,400 Annual Fee
BACKGROUND:
The 2015 Budget included the implementation of a mobile app for the residents to be able to communicate with the Township staff directly for service requests, and to promote resident engagement.

Staff selected an application called Accela CRM. It is an extension of the Township's existing software application: Accela Civic Platform. Accela is used by several Township departments for land management, GIS, as well as service requests, work orders and asset management.

A committee was formed which included staff from Parks and Recreation, Covenant Administration, Information Technology, Community Relations, Community Services, Neighborhood Services and the President/General Manager's Office.  The committee was tasked with the branding, personalization, configuration, and marketing  the mobile app. 

The app has been named TheWoodlands311.

The mobile app will feature:
  • Service Requests: Residents will be able to snap a picture, report issues to the Township with GPS information and receive real-time updates.
  • Communicate Directly: Comment on reported issues to request and provide additional information.
  • Follow issues that other residents have reported.
  • Access Township services:
    • View nearby requests
    • View Township News
    • View the Township event calendar
    • Register for a Recreation program
    • Reserve a park or pool
    • Access the Township's Facebook page
    • Access the Township's Twitter page
    • Access the Township's Transit Twitter page
    • View where to shop
    • View where to eat
    • View the Board of Director's Agendas and Meeting Videos
    • Access the Township's Emergency Management web page
    • View the Township's Job Opportunities
TheWoodlands311 mobile app is expected to be available in the App Store and Google Play on March 28th, to download for free.

The Community Relations Department will launch a marketing campaign to promote TheWoodlands311:
  • The Township Website
  • The Township's  social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • The Woodlands Community Magazine.
  • The Township's blogs.
  • Literature to be handed out by the Neighborhood Services Village Liaisons.
