Meeting Date: 01/27/2016

SUBJECT MATTER:
Receive, consider and act upon an update on the Pedestrian Bicycle Master Plan;
FISCAL IMPACT:
The 2015 Township Budget allocated  $100,000.00 for professional services to develop a pedestrian and bicycle master plan. Jones and Carter was the selected consultant and the fee for their services will be $99,909.84.  The costs to implement any recommendations of the plan or future development of new pedestrian or bicycle facilities or improvements would be identified in the master plan and are not funded at this time.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of Directors allocated funding in the 2015 Budget for the development of a pedestrian and bicycle master plan. This was an outcome of the 2015 budgeting process during which the Board received resident input/requests for pathway connectors to complete “gaps” in the pathway system, requests to develop trails in the George Mitchell Nature Preserve, and requests to develop bike lanes in the community.

At the May 27, 2015 meeting, at the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Transportation Committee, the Board approved the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for professional services to prepare the master plan. The RFP was developed with input from the Bicycle Advisory Task Force.

On July 10, 2015, the Board selected Jones and Carter as the consultant to develop the Master Plan.   The Scope of Services includes a series of meetings and presentations including  two presentations to the Board of Directors,  once with a Draft Plan and a second time with the Final Plan.   Jones and Carter is prepared to present to the Board an update and draft of the plan.
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and accept the report and provide Jones and Carter input and direction in finalizing the Master Plan.
