Receive, consider and act upon a Special Event Permit for the YMCA Kiwanis Kids Triathlon;
There is no financial impact as this event is not held on or in a Township facility.
In July of 2013, the Board of Directors adopted the Special Event Policy and Procedures which stipulates Board approval is required for special event permits for certain types of events that may have an impact to the community and surrounding neighborhoods.
A Special Event Permit Application has been received: YMCA Kiwanis Kids Triathlon (Attachment A)
July 26, 2014. No other race/walk events in the Village of Sterling Ridge are known to occur on this date.
A kids triathlon which uses a section of Ashlane Way for the cycling portion of the event. The run and swim portions will occur on YMCA property.

: Has been approval by Montgomery County for the use of the roads
This event occurs in less than 90 days; therefore the 90 day pre-event application submission requirement has been waived by the President/General Manager, per the authority provided in the Policy, so that the application can be considered. Please see Attachment B with includes all events that are classified as Special Events per the Special Event Policy & Procedures for the months of July-August 2014, some of which do not require Board approval per the Policy.
As the YMCA Kiwanis Kids Triathlon event is not known to have a negative impact to the community or immediate neighborhoods, and it has occurred in the past with no known issues, it is recommended to approve the Special Event Permit as presented.
