The Woodlands Township is treated as a conservation and reclamation district for the purpose of participating in the Montgomery Central Appraisal District (MCAD) election process. The election is held every two years. While there are five board positions to be filled in this election, the Township can only participate in the election for the Special District candidate. The MCAD election process has been initiated.
In the first phase of the election process, the Township may choose to nominate a candidate (see MCAD letter attached). During the May 18, 2017 Township Board meeting, the Board requested that staff solicit candidates through a process similar to that used for DSC appointments. An application form was posted on the Township website and a press release to solicit candidates was posted on the Township website and distributed through the Township's social media channels. Monday, June 19 at 5 p.m. was the deadline to submit the application form.
As of the deadline, three potential candidates had submitted their interest (listed in order of form submittal): Eric Yollick, Chuck Hoffheiser, James Conroy. Copies of the nomination forms are provided for Board consideration.
The Township is required by MCAD to nominate by resolution. Resolution No. 008-17 Submitting Nominee as Candidate for the Election of the Montgomery Central Appraisal District's Board of Directors to formalize the nomination of a potential candidate is attached.
