Regular City Council Meeting
Request City Manager to review and recommend any amendments to the City's Grade and Step Scale to better meet the needs of the City regarding the attraction and retention of quality employees. (Grant/Holloman)
The City maintains a grade and step scale for every position within the organization. The scale formalizes a minimum and maximum level which will be paid for any established position. These levels are based upon responsibilities and skill sets necessary to do the work necessary. Further, the scale allows for some expectation on how an employee will move through the system over the course of their career.
This action has no impact on the budget but when adopted it will create a standardized and fiscal impact.
No review was necessary for this action.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE ACTION:
No committee action was required. Once an amended scale is prepared, it will return to City Council.
An amended Grade and Step scale will be beneficial to the employees and eliminate uncertainty in the process.
