ACTION REQUESTED:
Consideration approval and award of expenditure for equipping ten (10) police vehicles to Code 3 Service. (Perry/Captain Joe Smith)
BACKGROUND:
Initiated by: Captain Joe Smith
 
On Thursday, July 22, 2021, the City Council approved the purchase of 10 new Dodge Police Pickup Trucks. The new pickups will replenish our dwindling fleet of patrol vehicles. The pickups come with a spotlight installed by the dealership but no other equipment is included with the vehicle. We will need to completely outfit each of the 10 pickups with emergency lights, sirens, control box, barrier partitions, and nerf bars in order to make them a functioning Police Patrol Vehicle. The equipment is expected to last for the life of the vehicle.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION
The estimated one time cost to outfit all ten (10) police vehicles is $105,127.72 equipment and labor. The expense will be covered by the $780,500 budgeted in FY22.
LEGAL REVIEW:
No legal review is required at this time.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE ACTION:
The Finance Committee recommended (3-0) approval at their meeting on August 5, 2021.
