ACTION REQUESTED:
Proposed Ordinance 19-03 - Consider approval to advertise for a public hearing and vote on Proposed Ordinance 19-03 to annex Area Into the City of Roswell: Southwest of the intersection of E. Mescalero and the Railroad R-O-W. Legal Description: Subd: BERRENDO IRRIGATED FARMS Block: 22 Lot: 11 E 39.6' and:- Lot: 19 E 39.6', Quarter: SW S: 22 T: 10S R: 24E BK: BK 16 PG: 907. Site Area: 1.774 Acres. (Owner: City of Roswell). (Oropesa/Morris)
BACKGROUND:
Proposed Ordinance 19-03 would annex City-owned property into the City’s Municipal boundary.  The property is located along the west side of the BNSF right-of-way, south of east Mescalero Road.  The purpose is to help straighten out the municipal boundary in this area and will not adversely affect adjacent private property.  The proposed zoning will be Rural-Suburban (R-S).
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION
There are no additional costs associated with this request at this time.
LEGAL REVIEW:
The City Attorney has reviewed this agenda item.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE ACTION:
This annexation was recommended for approval by the Planning & Zoning Commission on February 26, 2019, by a vote of 5-0.  No residents spoke out against this application.
