The Roswell-Chaves County Extraterritorial Zoning Ordinance (ETZ Ordinance) was first adopted as Ordinance Number 80-1 and became effective August 1, 1980. It is an ordinance of the elected governing bodies of the City of Roswell and Chaves County. The ETZ Commission consists of seven members serving terms of one year. Three members are appointed by the City of Roswell, three members by the Board of Chaves County Commissioners, and the seventh member, who must live in Chaves County outside of the City of Roswell and outside the limits of the ETZ, is elected by the six appointed members.
The Commission shall administer this ordinance, establish the boundaries of the zoning districts, approve requests for changes of zoning, special uses, and variances, and consider requests for proposed amendments to this ordinance.
