Planning Board Minutes 

OF THE WORKSHOP OF THE FORT PIERCE CITY PLANNING BOARD HELD ON TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2020, IN FORT PIERCE CITY HALL, COMMISSION CHAMBERS, 100 NORTH US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA.
 
             
1. CALL TO ORDER

Mr. Burdge entered the meeting at 1:03 PM.

3. CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL FOR SHORT TERM RENTALS

Ms. Hofmeister gave a presentation on vacation rentals that highlighted the City of Fort Pierce and other localities regulations, current conditions of approval, additional language for consideration, and sample placards with suggested information.

Mr. Sweeney provided the Board an Indian River County vacation rental handout and he explained the City of Fort Pierce Conditional Use process for short term rentals. Mr. Sweeney said a City Commission denied short term rental can re-apply after six months and possibly be approved if the circumstances changed.

Mr.Broderick suggested that the additional conditions include that the property manager needs to show proof of residency, no on street parking, the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation License number shall be included on all advertising and a permit fee be required for vacation rentals.

Ms. Hofmeister noted that new recommendations for conditions will need to be formalized and presented to the City Commission by the Planning Board Chair or Vice-Chair.
             
4. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC

Any person who wishes to comment on any subject may be heard at this time. Please limit your comments to three (3) minutes or less, as directed by the Chair, as this section of the Agenda is limited to fifteen minutes. The Planning Board will not be able to take any official actions under Comments from the Public. Speakers will address the Board and the Public with respect. Inappropriate language will not be tolerated.

Michelle Longarzo and Paul Schall both spoke highly in favor of vacation rentals.

Marcia Baker and Larry Winter e-mailed comments were provided to the Board.
