Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) Performance Measurement and Project Prioritization Workshop
SUMMARY EXPLANATION/BACKGROUND:
On April 25, 2018, the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) voted to recommend adoption of the MTP Goals and Objectives to the MPO Board. The adoption of the MTP Goals and Objectives set the foundation for the MTP's Needs Assessment, including project prioritization and performance measurement. Broward MPO staff has been working with member governments to identify projects for the MTP's Needs Assessment in order to develop a comprehensive list of "needed" projects from our partners. Moving forward, the Broward MPO, in conjunction with the TAC (the MTP Steering Committee) and the CAC, will work to develop project prioritization criteria and data-driven performance measures related to the adopted Goals and Objectives. This will ensure that projects are prioritized based on the MTP's Goals and Objectives in order to meet the needs of the regional transportation network.

At this upcoming meeting on May 23, 2018, MPO staff will present a preliminary approach to the project prioritization process and development of performance measures. The intent is to collaboratively develop these criteria and measures with the MTP Steering Committee and the CAC and obtain constructive feedback in order to guide the MTP staff and consultant team in producing a draft set of criteria and measures. Through the summer, the MTP Steering Committee and CAC will work on developing the approach for the MTP's Needs Assessment in order to produce a prioritized list of projects for the MTP's Cost Feasible Plan (CFP).

Broward MPO staff will lead a guided discussion on the development of performance measures and project prioritization criteria at the meeting. The PowerPoint for the workshop can be found in the Attachment.
