SUBJECT:
Request authorization to accept grant funds from the Department of Homeland Security for Operation Stonegarden in the amount of $52,472.00.
RECOMMENDATION:

The Police Department requests authorization from Mayor and Council to accept grant funds from the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) for Operation Stonegarden in the amount of $52,472.00. Staff is also requesting authorization to execute all grant and contract documents, disburse funds, and perform necessary budget transfers.

DISCUSSION:
For several years now, the Casa Grande Police Department has received funding for equipment, overtime and mileage reimbursement from the Arizona Department of Homeland Security – Operation Stonegarden. This year the AZDOHS awarded the department $52,472.00 in reallocation funds.
 
The funds will be used for overtime, employee related expenses and vehicle mileage reimbursement for Officers to continue coordinated Operation Stonegarden details that assist the department with the reduction of crime and help keep the community safe.
 
FISCAL IMPACT:

No matching funds are required. Upon approval necessary transfers will occur within the grants fund (fund 220) to establish required spending authority equal to the amount of the grant.
