This request is for a public hearing for the Annexation of +/-160 acres generally located at the northeast corner of West Selma Highway and South Thornton Road. See attached Blank Annexation Petition and Map.
It is recommended that the Mayor and City Council conduct a public hearing for the proposed Annexation.
This is a City initiated Annexation request for +/- 160 acres primarily located on the northeast corner of Selma Hwy and Thornton Rd. This area is a logical and appropriate annexation area in regards to the current boundary of the City of Casa Grande. This Annexation will assist with any necessary improvements required to be made to Thornton Road in conjunction with the Lucid manufacturing facility. This area meets all legal requirements for annexation as set forth in the Arizona Revised Statutes.
A blank petition and associated annexation map (copy attached) was filed with the Pinal County Clerk and Recorder on March 10, 2017. At this time, Council is only being asked to conduct a public hearing on the proposed Annexation. This public hearing is conducted in compliance with the requirement in ARS 9-471.A to hold a public hearing within the last ten days of the thirty day wait period that begins with the filing of the blank petition. In accordance with the statute, petition signatures may be obtained from the owners of the land proposed for annexation once the initial 30 wait period has lapsed from the date of filing the blank petition. After signatures are collected, an Annexation Ordinance will be scheduled for Council consideration.

Existing Zoning – General Rural (GR), Pinal County
Proposed Initial Zoning upon Annexation that is equivalent to existing Pinal County Zoning - Urban Ranch (UR)
City of Casa Grande General Plan designation - Manufacturing and Industry
An Infrastructure and Service Plan will be evaluated and presented in conjunction with the first reading of the annexation ordinance.
No action required at this public hearing.
